Saturday Snapshot 12/15

At Home with Books hosts Saturday Snapshot.

I have finally finished most of my work-type obligations this week and am beginning to get ready for Christmas! College son finished finals and came home this week, and we are going to get our tree today and decorate it tomorrow. Plus, cards to write, decorations to put up, gifts to wrap, etc. Next Friday, my family will arrive here for the weekend (and beyond). Busy, busy, busy.

Despite getting wrapped up in all the busy preparations, I get very nostalgic this time of year (well, OK, I'm like that all year-round but especially now). Here are two Christmas photos of our boys who are now young men. Time sure flies...but I have loved every minute of it!

Jamie and Craig, Christmas 1991

Craig and Jamie, Christmas 2012 (same fireplace and stockings!)
Hope you are all enjoying your own holiday preparations!

  3. It's funny, 1991 doesn't feel very long ago...but then photos like this remind you that the 90's are indeed in the past! Love how it is in the same location and with the same stockings, too!

  7. Very handsome boys, then and now. Lucky you to have them with you at Christmas, this is our first year that we will not share Christmas with at least one of our kids and their families. My MIL will be with us and one of my husband's sisters, but not our own children and grandchildren. :(

  10. How lovely - your boys look like they've grown into charming young men. For those of us still in the thick of it...you give us hope :-)

  11. 91 doesn't sound all that long ago to me, but looking at your boys, now men, it's clear that it was..... What a fun pairing of photos.

  12. Love the photos Sue.

I am full of sadness the weekend over the tragedy in CT. How very sad, tragic and difficult to understand. We live about 1.5 hours from Newtown:( No reading for me this weekend, nor much time on the computer).

  13. Diane -

yes, same here. I used to work in Sandy Hook, CT, so I have been wondering whether any of my old colleagues still have kids at that school - I didn't see any familiar last names among the list of victims. But my heart goes out to all of the families affected. I couldn't read the newspaper yesterday without crying.
