Happy Book Blogger Appreciation Week!

In celebration of Book Blogger Appreciation Week, here are my answers to today's meme. The idea is to be brief, so here goes:

Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?
Not usually, though I like to have a cup of herbal tea or decaf mint green tea.

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of
writing in books horrify you?
Can't bring myself to write in non-textbooks. Post-It Page Markers do the trick!

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?

Bookmark.

Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
Both.

Hard copy or audiobooks?
Both.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you
able to put a book down at any point?
Ends of chapters...and then often onto the next chapter - so hard to put a good book down!

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?
I know I should but... Again, Post-It Page Markers are awesome for this!

What are you currently reading?
The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs for a book group.

What is the last book you bought?
Trying not to spend money but succumbed today and bought Olive Kitteridge while shopping for birthday gifts.

Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can
you read more than one at a time?
Can only read one at a time, but often have an audio book going at the same time.

Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?
In bed, before naptime (medically necessary) and bedtime. Also on sick days.

Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?
Either.

Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?
My faves: Replay by Ken Grimwood, Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, Too Close to the Falls by Catherine Gildiner

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?)
ha ha ha...that's a good one. We have books stacked all over the house, and all the bookcases are full!

  2. I'm a fan of the Post-It Page Markers : ) My only complaint is they're not easy to reload.

  3. THE YEAR OF LIVING BIBLICALLY has caught my eye - I tend to like those "I did something for a year" type of memoirs.

And, yes, it *is* hard to put a good book down; I'm famous for "just one more" chapter!
