- I finished Lucky Breaks by Susan Patron (sequel to the award-winning The Higher Power of Lucky). Both books were warm, sweet reads for middle-grade readers, and I'm looking forward to the third and final Lucky book.
- I also read Nothing But the Truth (and a few white lies) by Justina Chen Headley, a novel about Patty, a self-described “mixed-race, mixed-up teen.” The author was recommended by Miss Erin, a fellow book blogger, and I enjoyed the novel very much.
- On audio, I'm listening to another middle-grade book, The Mysterious Edge of the Heroic World by E.L. Konigsburg (author of the award-winning From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler). I'm almost finished with it, and it's been a complex but engaging story.
What are YOU reading this week?
Happy reading! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI have gloriousl memories of FROM THE MIXED UP FILES OF MRS BASIL E FRANKWEILER from my childhood. I'd check that book out over and over. I have it on my wishlist to get for my daughter's shelf.
ReplyDeleteI just came back from the library, where I picked up The Nine for my book group (500 pages by next week!), but I still couldn't resist the New Books shelf. I picked up a novel for myself, even though my To Read piles are taking over my bookcase, and I satisfied my urge for more books by grabbing two for my husband. Oooh, look at the shiny new books!

I am very interested to hear what you think about The Nine when you are done. I have thought about reading it so many times, yet always end up picking up another book instead.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to pick up The Nine in preparation for this summer's confirmation hearings!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett and enjoying it so far.
I'll let you know what I think of The Nine!
