I have just announced my first-ever hosted challenge, Big Book Summer Challenge, so I guess I should be the first to sign up!
I really enjoyed tackling some big books last summer, and I'm looking forward to doing it again and finally reading some of these bricks that have been collecting dust on my shelf!
I don't know if I will get to all of these, but I like to have some options to choose from. These are all currently on my shelves, waiting patiently to be read:
- 11/22/63 by Stephen King, 849 pages
- Outlander by Diane Gabaldon, 850 pages
- Freedom by Jonathan Franzen, 562 pages
- Blood Red Road by Moira Young, 459 pages
- Sharp North by Patrick Cave, 518 pages
How about you? Are you up for tackling a Big Book (or two) this summer? Join me and sign up for the Big Book Summer Challenge!
I'm with you - I just got 11/22/63 in the mail and I have Storm of Swords & the other George Martin books to be read too!
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect for summer, Tanya! Sign up for the challenge, and we can check out 11/22/63 together!

Only 400 pages! :) I was just telling my sister the other day that it seems like every book I pick up is around 400 pages. I'll join you but i have to figure out the whole linking back and forth and using the image thing so it might take me a couple of days to get my post done. I'm not too talented of a blogger.
ReplyDeleteha ha - I'm not either, Melissa!! Even after 7 years of blogging, I still know only the basics. But if I could figure out how to create the pic, you can figure out how to copy and link it - lol!
ReplyDeleteIf you just right-click on an image, you can choose the "Save Image As" option to save it to your own computer, then you can insert it just as you would any other image or photo.
And I see you are on Blogger like me, so just select the image or some text in a blog post (like Big Book Summer Challenge), and click the "link" button to paste my address:

Let me know if you have any problems and I'll be glad to help!

I accomplished my goal and read at least one big book this summer. Actually I read three big books, Sabriel, Lirael by Garth Nix, both over 400 pages long. Plus I read Lost in a Good Book which was 399 pages. I counted it!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Anne! Yeah, I think we can count the 399-pager, too ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating - I hope you enjoyed it!

This is a fun challenge. I wish you luck with it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Outlander. That series is my favorite series, hands down. I hope you enjoy the book; people either do or they don't...not hardly any in between,
I actually read Outlander LAST summer and did enjoy it. I;m not sure how you ended up on this 2012 post - I better go and check my links! lol

Ha. I didn't even realize this was a 2012 post, I clicked on your link placed into your summer 2013 challenge. Unless I happened to read the 2012 post. Weird. ;)
ReplyDeleteNo, no - you were entirely right - I had put the 2012 link into the 2013 challenge and had no idea!!
ReplyDeleteI corrected it now.
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
