Saturday Snapshot 11/3

At Home with Books hosts Saturday Snapshot.

Well, last week's Saturday Snapshot was the pre-hurricane view, as we prepared for the superstorm, so I figured I should show a post-hurricane view.  My husband and I took a walk around our neighborhood on Monday, after most of the storm had passed and were surprised to find no damage at all!  The only obvious effects of the storm here (where, unbelievably, the storm center passed through) were some leaves down, as predicted, but even then, some trees still have plenty of leaves left:

Hurricane Sandy dumped a lot of leaves on the ground but still left some in the trees.

And, although I feared that the storm would remove all of our fall color, it turned out that it just transferred it from the trees to the ground:

A rainbow of color was left on the ground after the storm.

We were even able to enjoy a fun Halloween:

Happy Halloween 2012!
We were very, very fortunate not to suffer any damage from this horrible storm - we never even lost power - and our thoughts and prayers go out to those who are still suffering.

  2. Thank heavens you weathered the storm so well. A few downed leaves is perfectly acceptable. I love your door ghost!

  3. Happy the storm bypassed you. Hurricanes are not my friends.

My favorite shot is of all the colored leaves in the street. Wish I had all those beautiful leaves to share with children here at my school....Here on the Texas Gulf Coast we don't really get the idea of fall!

Here's my Saturday Snapshot. Hope you will stop by.

  5. The storm took the rest of our leaves down too - now I'm waiting for it all to dry up so I can rake them away. It's been raining all week! Looks like you were all set for Halloween, though. Love your jack-o-lanterns.
